Symptoms of Uterine Cancer

Cancer is a lethal disease where the cells grow abnormally spreading to every part of the body. It can be in the form of a nucleoplasm or malignant tumor. There are various types of cancer like leukemia, skin cancer, lung cancer, uterine cancer etc. Breast, ovarian, uterine etc. are some of cancer which generally victimizes females. Uterine cancer comes just after breast and ovarian cancer in terms of the high death rate. But, this type of cancer is actually curable with proper medication.

What is uterine cancer?

Uterus is one of the most important organs of a female as it plays a big role in the reproduction process. When the cancer cells start growing on the lining of the uterus and there is abnormal bleeding from vagina, the disease is called uterine cancer. Endometrial carcinoma, uterine sarcoma and cervical cancer are the three basic types of uterine cancer. When the cancer originates in the endometrium of the uterus, it is endometrial cancer. When the cancer cells grow on the layer of uterus muscles, uterine sarcoma takes place. In cervical cancer the lower portion of the uterus is basically involved. Endometrial cancer is mainly considered as uterine cancer and most women die due to this carcinomas disease.

What are the Signs and Symptoms of Uterine cancer?

Uterine cancer generally occurs when the menstrual cycle of a woman terminates and she enters the menopausal stage. Women below 70 years of age are the targets of this cancer. The symptoms of this disease may vary from one person to another. But, the basic symptom is bleeding from the vagina after the women enters the menopause stage. There are many other symptoms like excessive pain while intercourse, during urination accompanied by pain in the abdomen. Women also lose weight peculiarly. The patients have to bear a lot of pain in the region of the pelvis and there is a discharge from the vagina too. Firstly, there will be a discharge which will be followed by vaginal bleeding.

The symptoms show up when the disease reaches its advanced level. The bleeding from the vagina is sometimes heavy and sometimes light, depending upon the intensity of the disease.? The bleeding can last all throughout the entire month. Whenever any of these symptoms are detected, you must consult the doctor immediately. Apart from bleeding there can be vaginal discharge with a very unpleasant smell. The discharge generally contains a certain kind of mucus.

Menstrual pain is natural in women and it lasts only for a few moments during the periods. But, when there is a severe pain in then pelvic region you must not ignore it. If the pain lasts for a very long time and for many days, then it can be a symptom for uterine cancer. Doctor should be consulted as soon as possible and avoid having painkillers as it will subdue the pain temporarily and conceal the main reason. Sometimes the pain will not be so severe but still a doctor should be consulted to prevent any kind of future problems. If there is any kind of irritation after intercourse or bleeding post intercourse, it can be a sign of uterine cancer. The bleeding can be followed by uneasiness around the cervix region.

How to deal with the signs and symptoms?

If you experience any such kind of pain or irritation, you must take note of everything properly. These can be the symptoms of uterine cancer and thus needs appropriate attention. Check the frequency at which the bleeding is taking place and whether it is between your periods. You should not ignore bleeding before the onset of the menstrual cycle. Note whether the pain is very much severe or it is general menses pain. Thus, consult a good gynecologist to ensure that cancer growth is prevented.
